I’m sure everyone knows what McDonald’s Bacon and Egg McMuffin tastes like. The two I had this morning was no different; so I wouldn’t bother writing a review about it. I don’t normally eat Bacon and Egg McMuffin; but this morning, I was so hungry I decided to get two on my way to work.
The voucher was for one complimentary Bacon and Egg McMuffin when another Bacon and Egg McMuffin is purchased. I saved NZD 4.20 this time.

For something a little bit cheaper, we decided to head to the Gusto Beijing Duck Restaurant on Gloucester Street for lunch. The highlight was definitely the Beijing duck. Half a duck is NZD 38, and it feeds our party of five nicely. The duck is served in three courses—Beijing duck wrapped in pancakes, Beijing duck stir-fried with bean sprouts, and finally the option of either having the leftover bones served in a soup or deep-fried. Unfortunately, they were out of beef fillets. Instead, we ordered some shredded pork, and tofu as well. Overall, the food is nice. The Beijing duck tasted authentic. Not that I’m from Beijing. The portion size is decent. Unfortunately, the lunch service wasn’t particularly great. The restaurant seemed a bit under staffed. Our dishes were served with long waits in between.
The voucher was for 25 percent off; up to NZD 25. We saved about NZD 19 this time.

She Chocolat is a great little restaurant in Governors Bay, specialising in homemade chocolates. We went there for lunch and the view of Lyttleton Harbour was stunning. For the main course, I had the Confit of Turkey. I thought the turkey was a tad dry. Otherwise, the dish was great. The taste was exquisite. Since She Chocolat specialises in chocolate, it would only be appropriate to at least try one of their chocolate drinks. I had the Mayan Belgian hot chocolate – a traditional South American recipe of chilli and spices. Suffice to say, I will come back just for the chocolates; and the view too. The staff were friendly as.
The voucher was for one complimentary main course when another main course of equal or greater value is purchased; up to NZD 30. We saved NZD 22.50 this time.
If you’re going for the first time, try to get a table out on the deck; especially if it’s a fine sunny afternoon like today. Bring a camera too. You won’t be the only one with a camera there. There’s also a jetty at the end of the road beside the restaurant. There are some nice photos waiting for you there.
