For something a little bit cheaper, we decided to head to the Gusto Beijing Duck Restaurant on Gloucester Street for lunch. The highlight was definitely the Beijing duck. Half a duck is NZD 38, and it feeds our party of five nicely. The duck is served in three courses—Beijing duck wrapped in pancakes, Beijing duck stir-fried with bean sprouts, and finally the option of either having the leftover bones served in a soup or deep-fried. Unfortunately, they were out of beef fillets. Instead, we ordered some shredded pork, and tofu as well. Overall, the food is nice. The Beijing duck tasted authentic. Not that I’m from Beijing. The portion size is decent. Unfortunately, the lunch service wasn’t particularly great. The restaurant seemed a bit under staffed. Our dishes were served with long waits in between.
The voucher was for 25 percent off; up to NZD 25. We saved about NZD 19 this time.
