The Ferry Ale House looks just like any of the other Speight’s Ale Houses. Actually, I’ve only been to the one at the Tower Junction so I don’t know what the one on Bealey Avenue looks like. I’m pretty sure the menu is exactly the same; though the dishes are done slightly differently. I had my usual, the Blue n Gold. For the first time, I also ordered the suggested Speight’s Distinction to go with the fish and chips. Overall, it was pretty good. The dish was nicely presented; yes, that is newspaper. The fish wasn’t as plentiful but it tasted good. The chips wasn’t as crispy as I would have liked but it was alright. The beer was nice and the staff were friendly.
The voucher was for one complimentary main course when another main course of equal or greater value is purchased; up to NZD 25. We saved NZD 22 this time.

The 100 Vouchers Project was kicked off today with a visit to the Beach licensed cafe in North Shore for lunch. You can’t actually see the beach from the cafe. Rather, I believe it’s named after the Beach Road that it is on. Though there is no beach view, the place is quite nice. The staff are quite friendly as well. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t to my liking. The pork belly that I had was quite nice, but I found the flavour a tad too intense. That’s my only complaint. The mocha was served with a mini bar of dark chocolate. The first time I’ve seen it. The chocolate was a nice touch.
Would I go back? Highly unlikely. But, the place was really busy; so some people obviously like this cafe.
The voucher was for 25 percent off; up to NZD 30. We saved NZD 21.25. There were three of us, in case you’re wondering.

Yay! 20 free songs to add to my legal music collection.

Primary Goal
To use at least 100 vouchers from the 2010/2011 Christchurch Entertainment book.
Secondary Goals
- Try some new restaurants and activities around Christchurch.
- Practice some photographic skills.
Description
The project is simple—use at least 100 vouchers from the 2010/2011 Christchurch Entertainment book by 1 June 2011. That’s on average, 2 vouchers per week. Each voucher used should be accompanied by a blog post; and ideally a photo.
The List (20 of 46)
This is the list of vouchers that I’ve or will potentially use. I’ve included a column to track how much money I’ve saved but let’s face it – I’m going to end up spending a lot more than without the Entertainment book.
