After rebuilding my system last week, I had to retune my TV tuner. Reception here isn’t great so auto-tune doesn’t work very well. I find it easier to manually set the channel frequencies. This is the second time I’m doing this, so I thought I should make a note of it.
| Channel | Frequency (MHz) |
|---|---|
| TV One | 62.25 |
| TV2 | 203.25 |
| TV3 | 189.25 |
| C4 | 224.25 |
| Prime TV | 799.25 |
| CTV | 655.25 |
| Voice TV (Arirang) | 639.25 |
| Discovery * | 767.25 |
| Sky Movies * | 543.25 |
| Sky One * | 735.25 |
| Sky Sports * | 575.25 |
* SKY UHF channels are scrambled using VideoCrypt.
While searching for the channel frequencies, I came across the following Lincrad page that lists all the transmitter sites in New Zealand along with all the frequencies the channels are broadcasted on. Central Christchurch seems to be primarily covered by the Sugarloaf transmitter… wherever that is.

Thanks for that – just what i was looking for. If you lived in Chch, you would know sugarloaf – can’t be missed – you can see it from everywhere – unless you’re being touch in cheek here…

I was looking out the meeting room window the other day and right there on the Port Hills stood the massive Sugarloaf transmitter tower. I don’t know why I’ve never noticed it before.

For those curious about VideoCrypt, you may want to try googling for hVCPlus and Hardwired.

I just found the Arirang channel yesterday. I’m not sure where the transmitter is but reception in Riccarton and Addington is good. Yay! Free Korean dramas.

I get 98% quality signal from TV1 and TV2…but TV3 is 20% and a lot of faulty.

I now have HD and my torrestrial tv arial has a number of Freeview channels at times TV3 Maori TV Prime TV and Trackside suffer badly from interference. But all of the TVNZ channels never suffer and that leads me to believe That we have certain influences or controlled communications. I have complained to NZ Broadcasting but it is the NZ transmission broadcasting service who look after frequency and it is here where the problem lies. We all know what happened to telecom this is another one. We know with in the service is four walls but finding the hacker will take time.
